A FLATS plan has been tabled for the top floor of Holmfirth's worst eyesore.

Owners Medicare want to create eight flats at the notorious former Lodge's supermarket building in the town centre.

Kirklees Council is being asked to consider the plans for the scheme.

The move comes ahead of a pledge to begin work in January on a new shopping centre for the first two floors.

Developers hope the Riverside centre will open in mid-summer.

Its design has been altered to fit in with requests by Kirklees Council. Nine shops are due to be included.

The building has been empty for eight years, sparking petitions from townspeople about its neglect.
