PLANS to demolish a house on a tree-lined Huddersfield road are set to go ahead.
Developers will build a block of three flats on the site of Beech Hollow, a 1960s home in Halifax Road, Edgerton.
And Albert Booth, of Huddersfield Civic Society, said he now liked the look of the flats.
People living nearby had launched a protest earlier, saying the modern design would stick out like a sore thumb.
Designers made changes to try to overcome the protests.
Mr Booth, a retired architectural photographer and author of a book on Huddersfield's buildings, said: "I do feel they have listened to the objectors - and at great expense."
His comments came at a Kirklees Council planning committee.
Clr Mehboob Khan, a Labour councillor for the area, said he believed the changes should go ahead.
