Heavy rains over the last 24 hours have burst banks and overwhelmed drains leading to flooding in parts of Huddersfield.

Milnsbridge, Slaithwaite, Ravensthorpe and more have seen flood waters.

Sam Heaton said that the Spen River had also burst its banks near to Dewsbury Country Park.

She said: “The water is rushing down and onto a nearby footpath which will soon be impassable if the rain continues”.

It appears that there’s plenty more rain on the way.

There’s decent amounts forecast for Monday and Tuesday.

By the end of the week, the temperatures are forecast to drop - with the threat of snow.

We know there was a lot of rain in Huddersfield overnight - but here’s just how much:

  • The town itself had 44mm or 1.7in of rain between Saturday lunchtime and Sunday lunchtime
  • Meltham got 60mm
  • Parts of the Calder Valley got 95mm
  • The average for the whole of November is about 65mm
