WEST Yorkshire has been battered by heavy rains and floods over the past few weeks.

Although escaping major flooding, Huddersfield residents have seen high water levels around their homes and businesses.

In Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd homes, businesses and full streets have felt the full force of the floods.

Other parts of the UK have also been hit hard by the wet weather - but in Russia torrential rains deposited nearly a foot of water overnight in some regions.

That downpour created huge torrents of water which tore through towns and villages in its path - kliing more than 100 people.

Below are galleries from Huddersfield, the flooded Calder Valley, the UK and Russia all illustrating the devastating power of nature.
