Floods hit roads after heavy rain

HIGHWAYS staff worked to deal with roads hit by flooding.

Kirklees Council highways department received seven calls for help after torrential rain on Wednesday night and early yesterday.

But no lasting problems were reported.

Drivers faced floods in roads in Marsden - where Manchester Road was closed - Mirfield and Thongsbridge.

But brighter weather meant the water drained away during yesterday.
