FLY-TIPPERS have abandoned dozens of bin bags of rubbish on the edge of Huddersfield.

The waste was dumped at Weatherhill Road in Lindley.

Clr Cahal Burke, who represents the area on Kirklees Council, spotted the bin bags yesterday.

The Lindley Lib Dem said: “There’s household waste, garden waste and cardboard packaging among the rubbish. I think it’s disgusting.”

More than 30 bin bags have been abandoned at the site near the junction with Lindley Moor Road.

Clr Burke said: “It’s a bit of an isolated spot so if people are minded to fly-tip they would probably get away with it at night.

“I doubt it was done by people who live nearby, I would hope that the residents round here would have more respect for their area.”

Clr Burke reported the fly-tipping to Kirklees yesterday.

Council staff cleared the rubbish yesterday afternoon and searched the bags for clues to the identity of the fly-tipper.
