JAPANESE students are boosting their education in Huddersfield.

Twenty-two students, aged 19 and 20, from Kanagawa University, Japan, are on a three-week visit, organised by Huddersfield University.

The university has compiled a number of events aimed at teaching the business studies students about English culture.

The students chose Huddersfield to visit instead of other options in Canada and the USA.

Local lecturers have organised visits to beauty spots such as Holme Moss and Castle Hill.

The students have also visited Manchester United's Old Trafford ground, Liverpool, the home of The Beatles, and the National Coal Mining Museum at Caphouse Colliery, near Grange Moor.

The students have stayed with local families and have been encouraged to speak English throughout their stay.
