MIST and fog brought problems to the roads around Huddersfield this morning.

The M62 was particularly badly affected over the tops, with visibility greatly reduced.

There were delays in both directions, with the eastbound carriageway near junction 24 at Ainley Top particularly busy and lengthy queues between junction 25 (Brighouse) and junction 26 (Chain Bar).

Traffic heading west towards Manchester was also heavy, and there were delays on the A62 Cooper Bridge Road in Huddersfield, and the A644 Wakefield Road into town in Brighouse.

READ MORE: Half a month's rain fell on Saturday

The mist is expected to clear by mid morning but rain is expected to move in by tonight.

It follows torrential downpours at the weekend which saw half a month’s worth of rain - about 31mm - fall on Saturday, leading to localised flooding in some parts.

And yesterday the Met Office issued a yellow alert for more heavy rain across Yorkshire on Thursday.
