THIRTEEN people have been arrested on suspicion of football related disorder following early morning raids in Huddersfield.

The arrests on Monday followed an incident in Wakefield city centre on Saturday, March 24.

The incident happened just after 3pm when a fight broke out on Smythe Street between a number of people from Huddersfield and several people from Sheffield.

A 19-year-old man from Sheffield suffered serious injuries.

An investigation was launched and police used CCTV footage to help identify people they believed to have been involved.

Yesterday officers from the Wakefield Division visited 13 addresses across the Huddersfield area and arrested 13 young men aged between 16 and 20.

Insp David Peach from the Volume Crime Management Team at Wakefield who led the investigation said: "The incident caused disruption and fear in the city centre to people going about their everyday business."

The 13 who were arrested were still being questioned by police.
