COME and join us ... that’s the message from the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

The charity has planning permission to build a children’s hospice in Brackenhall and is keen that more people tackle the Huddersfield Examiner Charity Challenge for them.

The event on Sunday, May 18,features activities including walking and cycling for all fitness levels so the whole family can take part.

Karen Dineen, new head of fundraising at the Trust, said: “This is such a wonderful event to be involved in as there really is something for everyone from leisurely walking through to far more energetic activities.

“We would like to thank all those who we know are already supporting The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust, but we still need more people to help us by taking part in this event.”

The Trust is currently raising money to provide the centre for respite, emergency and end-of life care.

They need £3m to build the centre and then a further £1.5m each year for running costs. Community-based teams providing care and support at home will be part of the service offered, along with bereavement support.

Children and families from Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield who need such care have to make long journeys to specialist centres further afield.
