Former Huddersfield Giants player Adam Walker has been charged with trying to have sex with an under-age child.

Walker, 24, who now plays for Hull KR, has been charged by West Yorkshire Police with two offences of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.

The player was suspended by Hull KR when details of the allegation s emerged last summer but was later re-instated.

A Hull KR spokesperson said: “Hull Kingston Rovers have been made aware by the player and his legal representative of charges brought against him by the West Yorkshire police.

“Adam continues to maintain his innocence and expects to be exonerated once the matter is before the courts.”

Walker played for Rovers in a friendly against his former club last month.

He had made six appearances for the Giants as a prop forward.

He is due to appear before Wakefield Magistrates later this month.

An earlier version of this article was wrongly illustrated with a picture of Adam Walker's twin brother Jonny Walker. We apologise to Jonny Walker for our error and we confirm that Jonny Walker has never been charged with any child sex offence.
