A FORMER Huddersfield inspector who has now risen through the ranks will now temporarily head police in Kirklees.

Acting Chief Supt Dave Lunn will be running Kirklees Division over the coming months in a restructure.

He has taken over from Chief Supt John Robins, who has been seconded to take up a force wide-role as Assistant Chief Constable’s position at West Yorkshire Police’s HQ.

Chief Supt Lunn, who joined the force in 1987, has served the majority of his career in Kirklees. He was an inspector in Huddersfield from 1996, where he was in charge of the Grimescar Valley area.

He said: “I am delighted to lead Kirklees Division for the next few months and it is my intention to build on the excellent work and progress the division has made under Mr Robins’ leadership.

“I take over a very successful division – one of the largest in the country – where crime and anti-social behaviour continue to fall and confidence and satisfaction in my officers has never been higher.

“My focus will be on ensuring we work closely with the public to deliver a very professional policing service that meets their needs.”
