A FORMER Huddersfield woman has made history by becoming the first Punjabi woman to become president of a Rotary Club in the city of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Kuldip Kaur Ardawa emigrated in June 2003 after living in Huddersfield for 35 years.

Kuldip still regularly keeps in touch with friends. family, work associates and regularly reads the Examiner on line.

She said: “I have always been passionate about serving the community. The Rotary Club has been the avenue for me to continue to do just that, not only to the immediate community but to communities worldwide.’’
