FORMER Manchester United and Huddersfield Town midfielder Ronnie Wallwork was today charged with concealing stolen property.

The 33-year-old from Failsworth, Greater Manchester was arrested as part of a police operation codenamed Operation Solomon in connection with offences relating to stolen cars.

He is due to appear in court at Preston along with Siobhan Johnston, 34, of Askett Close, Newton Heath, Manchester, who is also accused of concealing criminal property as part of the same investigation.

A police statement said: "The arrest and charges follow a protracted covert investigation, codenamed Operation Solomon, which has already seen four men charged with conspiracy to commit robbery between August and November 2010 in the north of England.

Mr Wallwork and Ms Johnston were in no way connected with the arrest of the four men charged, who were involved in an armed robbery in Preston, a police spokesperson said.

Wallwork played 16 times for the Terriers, scoring three goals, after signing for boss Andy Ritchie in 1997 on loan from West Bromwich Albion.
