A FORMER Kirklees mayor has been handed a role as one of the Queen's representatives in West Yorkshire.
Tory councillor Margaret Bates is among 12 new deputy lieutenants for the county.
She is a councillor for Spen and was Kirklees Mayor for 12 months until May.
Deputy lieutenants are used on royal visits or at other important events. Other appointments include West Yorkshire coroner Roger Whitaker.
