A FORMER Halifax MP who almost went blind because of an eye condition is coming to Huddersfield to talk about it.

Alice Mahon will speak about wet age-related macular degeneration at a public meeting in the Town Hall next Monday.

Her visit will form part of the Kirklees Patient and Public Involvement Forum's annual meeting.

The condition hit the headlines recently after primary care trusts across the country refused to pay for the sight-saving drugs needed to control the condition.

People will also be invited to have their say on other health issues at the meeting, which will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Refreshments will be served from 6pm.
