CLIMBERS picked up a prize for their snazzy van while helping to raise over £450,000 for charity.

Tony Mackley, Caron Csuk and Dee Smith, all of Mirfield, and Edward Jennings, from Dewsbury, were among 60 teams to complete the Wooden Spoon Four Peaks Challenge last month.

The four scaled four peaks in the UK and Ireland in 48 hours to raise £4,400 for disabled and disadvantaged children.

But it was the group’s ornate Ford Transit which attracted the Best Dressed Vehicle prize.

Team captain Edward, who has competed in the challenge nine times, said: “Over the years the Wooden Spoon Four Peaks Challenge has developed into something really special.

“Some of the more competitive teams are spurred on by a friendly rivalry, but those taking part for the sheer satisfaction of completing the challenge have just as much fun, and, of course, we all share the desire to raise as much money as we possibly can for disadvantaged youngsters throughout the UK and Ireland.”
