TWO rotary clubs have joined forces for the second year running to raise awareness about high blood pressure problems.

Huddersfield and Pennine Rotary Clubs will be giving people the opportunity to have their blood pressure tested for free at Huddersfield Parish Church between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, April 9.

Alistair Stewart, Rotary member, said: "One aspect of the campaign is to raise awareness about the risk of high blood pressure and share information about healthy living.

"Unrecognised raised blood pressure is a major health risk and as it does not always produce significant symptoms there are many people who have the condition without being aware of it.

"Last year 40 clubs in our district offered blood pressure checks for around 6,000 people and about 20% of these had previously unnoticed raised blood pressure and were advised to seek medical advice."
