POLICE hunting a nightclub killer are following up new leads.

Detectives probing the brutal death of Michael Hanley in Ravensthorpe confirmed they were working on a number of inquiries.

But the man in charge of the hunt is not saying what they are.

Mr Hanley, 23, was gunned down outside Sheridan's Bar in Ravensthorpe at 5am on Tuesday.

He was among an estimated 200 people packed into the club, having moved on there from a party in Huddersfield.

Det Supt Phil Sedgwick, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have spoken to a number of people who were in the bar at the time and we would ask anyone who was there who we haven't yet spoken to, or anyone who saw a silver Volkswagen Golf in the area at the time of the shooting, to contact us.

"We are working on specific lines of inquiry, of which we are unable to go into further detail at the moment.

"Someone must know who shot Michael that night.

"People can get in touch in confidence via the text service which is 07733 123123 or telephone us on 0800 318001."

The killer was described as either of mixed race, or a light-skinned African-Caribbean male, and in his late teens or 20s. He had short dark hair and was wearing a dark hooded jacket and dark trousers.

His victim was a single man who lived in Leeds.
