FIREFIGHTERS from Huddersfield had to deal with two car fires in quick succession.

In the first incident, at about 11.10pm on Thursday, an arsonist used an aerosol can to light the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra on Rock Street in Longwood.

The fire spread to the engine compartment.

Fire crews spent about half an hour dealing with the incident, before being called to Well Grove in Sheepridge at about 11.45pm.

A Volkswagen Golf had been torched on the driveway of its owner’s house.

The culprit had left a petrol can next to the car, which was totally destroyed.
