RUSH hour commuters experienced severe delays after a crash on the M62.

Tailbacks stretched back to junction 23 after two cars crashed at junction 25, Brighouse, on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway, at about 5.50am on Friday.

One of the cars made it onto the hard shoulder, but the other was stranded in lane three of the carriageway and was then hit by a third vehicle.

Lanes two and three were closed while Highways Agency officials dealt with the incident.

All three vehicles were recovered by 7.45am and the road was fully reopened.

But traffic continued to be delayed by up to 40 minutes because of the hold-up.
