HUDDERSFIELD people are being asked to give their views on plans for a new £40m town centre supermarket.

Proposals for the new Asda store are being displayed at the Lawrence Batey Theatre today and tomorrow as the first round of a public consultation.

The development is expected to create 400 new jobs in Huddersfield.

The former Broadbents site off Queensgate is being earmarked for the 49,000 sq ft development with 560 parking spaces.

The engineering firm will relocate all its business to one site on Queens Street South.

People are being asked to give their views on the plans before they are submitted for planning permission.

The display will run until 6.30pm today and from 10am to 5pm on Saturday.
