THE beach will be in place, the sunshine has been requested and all you need to do is turn up with your bucket and spade.

The invite is to join the fun at Dewsbury’s annual beachside extravaganza.

Returning for its 14th year on Saturday, August 27, supported by Kirklees Council, Dewsbury on Sea is the annual celebration of the great British day out at the beach.

People can while away an hour in a deckchair with an ice-cream at the side of the beach, while the kids make sandcastles, watch Punch and Judy and enjoy donkey rides.

There will also be a traditional funfair, a radio roadshow and seaside games from midday.

Clr Peter McBride, Cabinet member for investment and housing, said: “Dewsbury on Sea is an amazing event which sees the community of Dewsbury come together to enjoy a vibrant seaside resort for the day”.
