MORE than 200 people enjoyed a fundraiser and end of season event organised by Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club.

The event, which raised £1,080 for the club, included a raffle and auction with items donated by supporters.

Club director Mark Reynolds thanked volunteers and photographer Michael Firth, from Shootz, who gave up his evening to take photos and also donated a free studio visit with £100 free prints.

Mark said: “We start the new season in September with 30 boxers all training for the forthcoming season.

“It is now more important than ever to provide a positive place for young people to go to help their social development and keep them off the streets, and so give them a purpose in life.”

The club is holding sessions during the school holidays every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5pm to 6pm.
