STAFF at law firm Armitage Sykes cooked up a treat for charity.

They held a barbecue in aid of their chosen charities of the year, which are the Alzheimer’s Society based in St George’s Square and Tommy’s baby charity.

They raised £195 at the barbecue and hope to beat last year’s charity total of £1,600 by holding more fundraising events.

Heather Boothroyd, from the New North Road branch, said: “It was a fantastic day and thankfully the weather managed to hold off until we had finished.

“We hold a lot of charity events throughout the year, including raffles, selling pies and cakes and an ongoing tuck shop.

“Last year we donated £1,600 to charity, so we hope to match that or beat it this year.”

Armitage Sykes would like to thank Brosters and Hinchliffes farm shops for donating meat to the barbecue and CR Tool Hire of Denby Dale who donated the barbecue.
