THE family of a missing Huddersfield man will stage a fundraising event towards the cost of searching a loch.

Golcar dad Steven Cooper vanished just after celebrating his 47th birthday in 2008.

His car was later found by a remote Scottish loch called Loch Laggan and police recently said it was “unlikely” there will be a detailed search of the water.

Now a jumble sale and cake stall will be held at New Mill Working Men’s Club at Sheffield Road in New Mill on Sunday from noon to 3pm.

Money raised will go towards paying a Yeovil company called Liquavision to use high technology sonar equipment to search the loch.

Many of the cakes at the event are being donated by JJ’s Cafe in Crosland Moor.

Loch Laggan is in the Scottish Highlands, about 15 miles north-east of Fort William.

There have been no confirmed sightings of Mr Cooper since he disappeared, but his family has never given up hope of finding him.
