ONE Race For Life just isn't enough for Huddersfield women - this year we're having two!

The hugely-popular three-mile run to raise money for Cancer Research returns to Greenhead Park this summer.

But to fit in the thousands of runners expected, it'll be held twice for the first time.

Nationally, last year was a it proved to be a record breaker as 409,000 women raised £21m through their efforts.

A total of 2,500 women took part in Huddersfield.

Organisers are hoping that in 2005 the event can make an even bigger difference - and aim to attract twice as many runners.

The Greenhead Park race has been provisionally set for Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20.

A total of 162 Race For Life runs have been pencilled in across the UK from May 4 to the end of July and it is hoped that the fundraising will top £23 million.

It will be the sixth consecutive year it has taken place in Huddersfield.

The second date is a brand-new twist to the annual fundraising favourite.

Organisers hope that two races will bring in twice as many participants - and twice as much money.

Tesco have confirmed that they will be backing the race for life for at least another three years.

Jo Symington, head of Race For Life, said: "I am thrilled that Tesco will be supporting the event.

"There will be a sea of pink Tesco Team T-shirts for every Race for Life event, a testament to their tremendous support."
