MORE than £87,500 has been made available for activity programmes during the school holidays for October half-term, Christmas and February half-term.

The money from Kirklees Council has been allocated to the Young People’s Holiday Activity Programme, which is designed to help local youngsters stay busy with sport, play, recreation, adventure activities, green projects and the arts.

The council’s Integrated Youth Support Service and Kirklees Early Intervention Grant for Disabled Children programme have joined forces to allocate the funding.

Groups in the voluntary and community sector are now being invited to apply for funding and provide winter holiday activities that are free of charge.

Projects need to cover age ranges 8 to 12 and/or 13 to 19, but the age limit rises to 25 for disabled people.

Organisations can apply for funding up to August 12 this year.
