ALMONDBURY village gala proved to be a roaring success at the weekend.

The four tenants’ and residents’ associations in Almondbury joined forces for the first time on Saturday to bring back an annual gala for the whole of the village to enjoy.

The groups decided to stage the gala because they were frustrated with the lack of activities for the whole community and their families in which to get involved

And, although the weather could have been better, the weekend’s entertainment still turned out to be a huge success.

Hundreds of residents turned up to the gala at the recreation ground on Cemetery Walk on Saturday afternoon.

Children were able to enjoy activities such as bouncy castles, face painting, majorettes, a Punch and Judy show, children’s fancy dress, and a tombola.

There was also aromatherapy and hair braiding.

Organisers hope they can continue this weekend’s success next year.
