The two-litre engined, 130-mile-per-hour ‘hot hatch’ ended up on its roof at the top of New Hey Road, not far from Salendine Nook High School.
The car smashed into barriers protecting pedestrians and rolled onto its roof near to houses at Moorlands Road, Mount.
All three emergency services rushed to the scene but amazingly no one was injured.
Fire crews from Huddersfield attended but were not needed as the driver had already got out of the vehicle.
The road into Huddersfield was closed for one hour, re-opening at 4pm.
A police spokesman said the driver had not been arrested, but inquiries were ongoing.
