IT’S set to be one of the more unusual events staged at the Galpharm Stadium.

A 500-foot zip slide is to be erected by the Huddersfield Giants and The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust in September to allow brave souls to raise funds for the charity.

It will run the length of the stadium, taking people 65ft above the pitch on a 500-foot ride to the far stand. The event is open to anybody over the age of 12 provided they meet health and weight criteria.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust funds measures to improve the lives of young cancer patients whilst they are undergoing treatments and supports each of the 33 hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland that take care of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

Helen Mervill, of the Trust, said: “This is a really exciting challenge that we are offering and we hope lots of people will sign up to support the charity and the six young people diagnosed with cancer locally and further afield, every single day.”

Former Bradford Bulls and Huddersfield Giants Super League player Robbie Hunter-Paul is taking part in the zip slide.

Further details of the event can be found on the charity’s website www.lauracranetrust.org in Events or you can contact the charity by emailing fundraising@lauracranetrust.org or by calling 01484 510013.
