PLANS for a £60,000 multi-user games area will be on the agenda at a village meeting in Marsden.

The plans are being drawn up to use a site alongside a youth shelter at the former goods yard.

They will be discussed at the next meeting of Kirklees Council's Colne Valley area committee on Thursday, March 10.

Clr Margaret Fearnley, area committee chairman, said: "I'm very pleased we're keeping up the momentum with this project after a rather slow start.

"The youth shelter should be in place by Easter and I want to thank local people for bearing with us while we've worked through the various planning and financial issues."

There will be an environmental theme for the meeting, which will be in the Mechanics Institute on Peel Street, starting at 7pm.

It will feature presentations on the network of cycle routes, water corridors and footpaths in the Colne Valley.

There will also be information and a question and answer session on cycling in the Colne Valley and the public rights of way network.
