A GANG robbed a man at knifepoint on a main Huddersfield road.

Police are sure passersby must have seen the attack on Newsome Road South in Newsome yesterday lunchtime – or the gang in the area.

They robbed a 29-year-old man and stole his mobile phone and cash. He was walking along the road when the three men and one woman stopped him and asked for a light at about 12.15pm yesterday.

They then asked to look at his Samsung D600 mobile phone and he was then grabbed around the neck and a knife held to his throat.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit said: “We have excellent descriptions so are hopeful that someone can put names to them.’’

The knifeman is white, in his early 20s and about 6ft tall. He wore a black baseball cap with white letters on it, a black hooded tracksuit top and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down both legs.

The second is a mixed race man in his early 20s also about 6ft, and slim with a thin face and his hair in plaits. He has a burn-style scar between his thumb and finger on his right hand.

He wore a black tracksuit top, navy blue tracksuit bottoms and grey and white trainers.

The third is a mixed race man aged about 20, 5ft 8ins and slim with dark Afro hair.

The woman is white, aged about 18, 5ft 8ins and plump with brown hair in a ponytail.

She wore a white baseball cap with a blue motif on it and a white tracksuit with light pink on the shoulders and front.
