A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was robbed of his mobile phone by a gang of men while he played on swings.

The boy was playing with four friends in Algernon Firth Park between Heckmondwike and Liversedge at 4.45pm on Sunday, July 15, when three of the men grabbed him and stole his phone.

The boy informed his parents who drove around the area looking for the suspects. They spotted one on Longfield Road and gave chase, forcing the suspect to drop the stolen mobile phone.

Eventually they lost him at the nearby cricket pitch.

Police investigations have led to the arrests of five men aged between 18 and 22 on suspicion of robbery. They are currently on bail.
