HEPWORTH residents will be throwing open their garden gates to visitors next month.

They will be taking part in the village's fifth `garden trail'.

Sixteen people will open their gardens to the public between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday, July 9.

As well as letting visitors view their gardens they will be providing refreshments.

All the gardens are within walking distance of each other. The full tour will take three hours.

The trail takes visitors through the new and older parts of the village.

There will be plant and gardening stalls along the route and visitors can complete a quiz, for which the first prize is £25.

There will also be an art exhibition in the village hall, with work by Hepworth Art Group.

Visitors can park for free at Dobroyd Mills, off Butt Lane, where tickets for the gardens can be bought.

Tickets cost £2.50 for adults and accompanied children go free.

They can be bought in advance by calling 01484 688131 or 01484 682613.

All proceeds from the event will go to Holy Trinity Church in Hepworth, which will be open for visitors.
