PEOPLE are being urged to dig their way to health and fitness in Kirklees.
The benefits of allotment gardening will be discussed at a free talk in Huddersfield Town Hall at 2pm on Wednesday, May 5.
Geoff Hirst, of Kirklees Council's Culture and Leisure Services - and an enthusiastic gardener for more than 20 years - will be sharing his experiences.
"With more than 2,000 allotment plots in Kirklees, there is plenty of opportunity for people," he said.
"Having an allotment is a great way to enjoy fresh air and be active and a good way of growing fruit, vegetables or flowers."
His talk is the first in a series of events between May 1 and 9. They include short walks, cycle rides and conservation tasks.
