HAIRDRESSER Gary Pearce has once again proved he is Britain’s king of the crop.

The 27-year-old has just come back from winning a first prize at the British Hairdressing Championships.

He came out top in the men’s fashion cut and style category.

Gary, of Rastrick, who owns Slick Hair Designs at Waterloo, said he was delighted to have won the prestigious title for the second time, having won it in 2006.

“It is fantastic to have come out top once again, it’s a great competition with some excellent stylists, so it is a real privilege. It wasn’t easy; the standards were high.”

Gary’s next major competition will be the South of England Championships, where he aims to prove he is a cut above all the southerners. He said: “I’m going to go down there and show the southerners what it is all about!”

He also plans to enter the next world hairdressing championships, which will be in Chicago in 2010.

He entered the competition this year and came fourth. But in two years he hopes he will be able to prove he is king of the crop, not just in Britain but the world.
