A GARAGE workshop was gutted by fire.

Fire crews were called out to fight the blaze and had to deal with dangerous gas canisters in Milnsbridge on Thursday.

The alarm was raised at 10.22pm when a fire was reported at a mechanic’s garage on Scar Lane near the junction with Britannia Road.

Three vehicles and a portable building were affected.

No roads were affected because the liquid petroleum gas canisters were set back 60m from the pavement.

Fire crews from Batley remained at the scene until 1am to assist in cooling down the canisters.

No-one was hurt.
