A FRACTURED pipe caused a gas scare in Brighouse.

A FRACTURED pipe caused a gas scare in Brighouse.

A young woman was doing DIY at her home on Huddersfield Road in Brighouse when she moved a pipe which she thought had been capped off.

But the pipe broke and gas seeped out at 11am yesterday.

She dialled 999 and firefighters evacuated nearby homes while gas engineers turned the gas off.

The road remained open during the drama.
