ENGINEERS last night restored gas supplies to all houses affected by an emergency in Marsden.

Most of the 125 houses in the village cut off from gas in freezing temperatures were reconnected by Wednesday evening.

But yesterday, the remaining 14 properties were visited for vital safety checks before supplies could be switched back on.

Parts of the village were cut off on Tuesday evening after water seeped into the gas main system.

Supplier Northern Gas Networks (NGN) said all the properties had been visited by engineers after repairs to the mains had been completed.
