ELECTION posters backing Colne Valley Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Nicola Turner can stay – in some areas.

Clr Turner is also a candidate in the local elections and so is allowed posters, but only in the ward in which she is running. She is seeking re-election to the Colne Valley ward, which makes up around one-sixth of the Parliamentary constituency. The Lib Dems have now removed the vast majority of posters – but some remain. Labour Colne Valley Parliamentary candidate Debbie Abrahams complained to Kirklees Council over the posters. Council regulations say that no General Election posters can be erected before the close of nominations on April 20. But Mrs Abrahams said: “This is unfair. Her double candidacy gives her an advantage.”
