HUDDERSFIELD Giants have thrown their weight behind a campaign aimed at stamping out domestic violence.

The Galpharm Stadium-based Super League club are offering public support to ‘Blow the Whistle on Violence Against Women’ run by the White Ribbon Campaign.

Staff and coaches at the Giants will all be wearing a white ribbon at tonight’s Super League game against Hull in support of the campaign, which is being run as part of an International Women’s Day this Sunday .

The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement to challenge men’s violence against women.

Its focus is to get men and boys to wear a white ribbon, which is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence to women, and also to report domestic violence committed against themselves.

And Giants star Luke Robinson, who will play at scrum half for Huddersfield tonight in a game to be screened live on Sky TV, has admitted he will be proud to support the cause.

“Domestic violence should not have to be tolerated by any individual,” he said.

“We all have a responsibility to take a stand against this kind of abuse instead of letting it be kept behind closed doors.”

And Giants marketing manager James Brammer added: “Huddersfield Giants are proud to be supporting the White Ribbon Campaign and we hope our backing helps make a difference.”
