A VILLAGE group is already preparing to help needy Russian children have a good Christmas.
The Meltham Churches Together group - members of seven churches - aim to give hundreds of shoeboxes of presents to needy children.
The boxes will be distributed by the Christian organisation Samaritans Purse as part of Operation Christmas Child.
MCT co-ordinator Judith Powell said: "Last year 15,000 boxes were given from the Wakefield area.
"We have been involved in Operation Christmas Child in a small way before, but have decided to go for it in a big way this year."
Three schools and some firms will also be taking part.
