PARISHIONERS have raised more than £1,000 for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

Every year, members of St Barnabas' Church at Crosland Moor raise charity cash during Lent.

They give up something such as chocolate or alcohol for 40 days and give the money they would have spent to buy their treats.

This year's effort involving about 70 peoplem raised £1,020 for the trust, which wants to build a children's hospice for Kirklees and Calderdale.

It is the second time the church has supported the charity this year. In January, the church drama group raised £552 with its pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
