GLEDHOLT Male Voice Choir celebrated its 60th anniversary with a charity concert on Huddersfield Piazza.

Saturday’s event featured performances from Marsh Ladies Choir, 60s pop group The Pathfinders, the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Pipe Band, Shepley Wind Band and The Fusspots ceilidh band.

Choir chairman Raj Beadle said: “We are delighted we have been able to gain the support of so many local musical groups in our aim to take music to the community.

“Last year we raised almost £3,000 for charity and we hope to do more this year, even during these difficult times.”

The festival was followed by a gala concert at Huddersfield Town Hall with performances by the Huddersfield Choral Society Junior Choir led by Susan Wilkinson and the Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thom Meredith.

All money goes to the Hollybank Vision Project which, as part of the Hollybank Trust, provides activities for adults with complex disabilities as well as Classic FM Music Makers which funds music therapy for vulnerable children and adults.
