A MULTI-MILLION pound revamp of a Huddersfield park has got the green light.
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet yesterday approved the £5m proposal for Greenhead Park.
The plan includes a restaurant behind the conservatory, the revival of the ornamental lake and new gates and railings.
Council leader Clr Robert Light welcomed the funding.
He said: “This will really improve the park and make it into a premier venue in the area.”
The Heritage Lottery Fund has pledged £3.75m to the plan, while Kirklees will spend £1.6m.
Work will start in the Autumn and should take 18 months.
The spending includes more than £300,000 on a restaurant, more than £100,000 to upgrade the gates and almost £240,000 to reinstate the ornamental lake.
