A FORMER Huddersfield DJ is bringing the sounds of New York and Miami to a town centre club.

Shaun Hutchinson - aka DJ Shivering Goat - will be performing at an event called Clear. It will be at Session in St George's Square tomorrow.

The event is run by Shaun, who lives in London, and a friend, Julian Bartholet, who is a promoter living in Huddersfield.

Shaun, 39, has performed at several Clear events in Huddersfield.

He says the aim is to provide new and rare music, alongside classic tracks of the last 30 years.

He added: "We get a good age range, which is great because we try and offer something for everyone."

At tomorrow's Clear spring party Shaun will be playing tracks collected during his recent trips to New York and the Miami dance music conference.

He said: "It's a different scene to Britain. Everyone in New York goes out late and clubs don't shut until noon the next day.

"There's a strong scene and lots of great record shops. For the style of dance music I deal in, New York and Miami have great new sounds.

"I want to bring a bit of that to Huddersfield."

Shaun added: "The rise of MP3s means it is easier for people to rip music off the internet and it means DJs are more wary about who they give special songs to.

"I'm lucky because DJ Danny Tenaglia has given me a song. The only people who have copies are me, a DJ in San Francisco and Danny."

Shaun, who moved to London eight years ago, is hoping to see old friends.

He said: "It's really nice to get back to Huddersfield. We always have a great time."

Tickets for Clear cost £5 from Session in advance or £7 on the night.

The event starts at 8pm and continues to 2am.
