AMERICAN music star Patti Smith is to host a fundraising gig for the famous Brontë museum.

The singer, songwriter, poet and artist, often referred to as the ‘Godmother of Punk’ decided to perform after visiting the Haworth-based museum last year.

Jenna Holmes, arts officer at the Brontë Parsonage Museum, said: “We’re delighted that Patti Smith is supporting the museum and will host this special performance in Haworth.

“This will be a remarkable evening in a tiny venue very close to the Parsonage – we are expecting a huge response.”

The performance with support from Tony Shanahan is at 8pm on Friday, April 19.

Tickets are £25 and can be booked from the Brontë Parsonage Museum – call 01535 640188 or email: jenna.holmes@bronte.org.uk
