A HUDDERSFIELD charity has captured a government contract to provide obesity training across north England.
Combating Obesity negotiated a lengthy Department of Health recruitment process to capture the contract for the next three years.
Director Patricia Sadio said: “It feels like a huge achievement for such a small local charity.
“We are thrilled that our hard work, often unpaid, has been acknowledged at the highest level.”
The DoH and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence studied the Golcar-based charity’s COBWEBS programme in considerable detail.
The programme, which stands for Combating Obesity With Education and Balance, was launched in 2002 and passed the guidelines for safe, long-term weight management.
