A JUNIOR soldier from Huddersfield came face to face with his Colonel in Chief – the Duke of York.

Junior soldier Cavan Langfield, 17, of Golcar, met Prince Andrew when he visited the Army Foundation College in Harrogate.

Cavan said:Š“It was a real honour to meet a member of the Royal Family.

“My parents are so proud, they said that for most people this is just a dream,” said Cavan, who hopes to join the Yorkshire Regiment when he has finished his training.

The College trains more than 1,200 junior soldiers each year over a 42-week period, providing the 16 and 17-year-olds with military training and vocational education ahead of a career in the British Army.
